Brit riff-slingers ‘Death By Ki’ unleash their enticing debut record ‘The Right Of Might’ through all digital outlets on Monday 20th May 2013.
Bursting out of Bridgwater, Somerset, newcomers Death By Ki bond together a formidable sound, lifting from the rampant power of Slayer and Lamb Of God and the old school riffery of Metallica. The South West road warriors, comprised of Josh Ayerst (Guitars and lead vocals), Chris Chamberlain (Guitars and backing vocals), Will Robins (Bass and backing vocals), and Nick Cope (Drums), pack together a heady blend of pummelling hooks laced with Slayer-esque vocals, set with layered riffage, and complemented by sturdy bass and rock solid beats.
The early roots of the band stem back to Josh and Nicky C’s school days, where the duo regularly jammed. Over time, they hooked up with Will and began to lay the early foundations for Death By Ki. However, it was not until 2011, when Chris joined the ranks, that things really started to solidify for the four piece. Since then, the lively quartet have pinned down countless shows across the UK supporting the likes of ‘Gallows’, ‘Revoker’, ‘Romeo Must Die’, ‘Evile’, and Australian metallers ‘Be’Lakor’ along the way.
After vigorously sharpening their set, the band took up residency at Junkyard Studios in Newport, Wales, where the four piece put down tracks for their first official EP with Jeff Rose (former guitarist for Dub War and Skindred) who has recently worked with the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, Revoker, and Funeral For A Friend.
Death By Ki came out of the studio with their debut EP, ‘The Right Of Might’, which immediately lunges forward with stunning pace, spewing out frantic drumming and hi-octane riffs to striking effect. Ramming five songs of intensely contagious vocal lines, a burly rhythm section, and high paced Kirk Hammett-esque licks, the band have produced a blazing and potent slice of modern metal. Now, with an army of fans waiting in the trenches, the stage is all set for the band to rise and break out to the nation.
